About Mug & Machine

An independent site for people buying a home espresso machine, coffee machine or grinder in the UK. Specifications, fit and running cost, every number sourced and dated.

What we do

Most buying questions are really a number: how big is it, will it fit, what will it cost to run, how does it compare with the alternative. We collect the figures from manufacturer specification pages and other published sources, keep them in one database, and build comparisons on top.

What we do not do

• We do not test hardware. Our machine and grinder comparisons use published specifications, and say so.
• We do not invent numbers. If a source does not state a figure, the table says "not stated".
• We do not hide disagreement. When sources give different figures for the same machine or grinder, you see both.

Who runs it

Mug & Machine is a small independent publisher based in the United Kingdom. It is not owned by, paid by or affiliated with any machine or grinder manufacturer. Brand names appear only to identify products.

Every figure is tied to a source you can open, and our editorial policy explains the rules in full.

How the site is funded

By advertising, and in future by affiliate links, which will always be labelled at the top of the page they appear on. Neither affects what the data says.

Any photographs on the site come from free stock libraries. Each photographer is named on the photo credits page.
